The Art of Ceramic Production

At the heart of ceramic production is a deep connection between the artist, the material, and the craft. Each piece tells a story, not just in its final form but through the meticulous processes that bring it to life. We’ll take you on a journey through our ceramic production, from the potter’s wheel to the final firing, unveiling the magic that transforms raw clay into beautiful, functional art.

  • The journey begins with clay, originating from the rich landscapes of Portugal, the foundational material of all ceramics.

  • The clay must be carefully prepared to achieve the right consistency and texture. Once ready, it’s shaped on the potter’s wheel, where skill and creativity truly come into play. Each piece can take up to a week to produce.

  • After shaping, the piece is carefully removed from the wheel and left to dry. Before the piece dries completely, each one is stamped by hand on the base, marking it with our signature seal. This stamping process is a mark of authenticity, ensuring that each piece is part of our carefully crafted collection.

The piece must be allowed to dry slowly and evenly, which can take several days, depending on its size and thickness.

Once fully dried, the piece is ready for firing.

  • This is where the magic of transformation begins. After the initial firing in the kiln, where the temperature is gradually increased to around 1,000°C, we wait for about 10 hours for the kiln to cool down completely before removing the pieces. Once removed, the vases are carefully sanded by hand to achieve a smooth finish.

Following sanding, they are either painted or glazed. If glazed, the vases undergo a second firing in the kiln.

Finally, each vase is inspected and packed, wrapped in recycled paper to reflect our commitment to sustainability and the environment.

Each stage requires precision, skill, and a deep understanding of the production, honed by our team’s over 40 years of experience. The result is not just a ceramic object, but a piece of art that carries with it the story of its creation.

We invite you to explore our collection and discover the beauty of ceramics that are made with heart and soul, from the potter’s wheel to your home.
